Comic-Con Preview #3

Okay, with the big event starting less than 24 hours here’s the last teaser image.   This is our new poster debuting at Comic-Con… and we’re pretty psyched.   It almost didn’t happen too.   The printer had a major breakdown and things got delayed… we didn’t get to pick up these beauties until 7pm tonight!

Take a peek at our Zombie Poster, debuting TOMORROW at Comic-Con!

Comic-Con Preview #2

Here’s our second Sneak Peek at the new designs we’ll be debuting at Comic-Con.   This is the Twitter Zombie Shirt we teased a few weeks ago while it was still in design stage.  Response was great so we went ahead with it – Yay Democracy!  (or, um yay focus groups! )

After considering all your suggestions for shirt color we opted for a neutral athletic heather gray… it goes with everything and really makes the zombie’s green skin pop (that’s two great qualities in a shirt: coordination and zombies).

Here’s a peek:

Comic-Con Preview #1

It’s almost here!   We’re in the frantic last days of preparation for San Diego Comic-Con International - the massive annual convention of “popular arts”.   It’s our biggest show of the year (actually it’s EVERYONE’S biggest show of the year) and  we’re doing everything we can to make it a great one.

We’ll be bringing tons of our original designs – including several that we’ve introduced at previous shows, but have never been to Comic-Con.    And, even more exciting, we’re bringing several NEW DESIGNS – three new shirts and a rockin’ new Zombie poster.

These new designs don’t officially debut until Wednesday night… but here’s a little preview of what’s coming to Comic-Con:

Based on our popular poster design from 2007, we finally got motivated by all of the  ”please make it a shirt” requests…  This new Zombie Shirt Debuts at Comic-Con 2009

RUMOR: Action Flick Chick Is Really Felicia Day

A tweet I made on a silly Twitter day several weeks ago that has stuck and is now spreading ’round the net. The game on Twitter that day was #feliciadayrumors – people were posting things about the actress/tweeter like “@feliciaday  is a robot” and “@feliciaday is your father” etc…

I picked up on it and posted

HumerusOnline @actionchick is really @feliciaday #feliciadayrumors

“ACTION FLICK CHICK” (who goes by “@actionchick” on Twitter) is a favorite movie blogger of mine, and an active Tweeter… she loved the rumor, repeated it and Retweeted it, and now it’s spread beyond twitter…

Check out RocketLama’s blog on the subject HERE
Which, naturally, Action Flick Chick repeated.

I’m still not convinced it isn’t true.  Perhaps we can get these two together at Comic-con and clear things up.   Or is she/they hiding something?

Our Little Vampire Friends

In getting prepped for San Diego Comic Con International I stopped for a moment to check in with our friends at Lunasea… to see how their preparations are going… Like us they’re VERY busy.

This year they upgraded from a small press table to a booth and Rebecca reports that they have a new print she’ll be autographing at the show (here’s a teaser of it:)

AND they’re “working hard on making the hand-bound Little Vampires at Play books, which will be premiering at Comic-Con”

Fans of the cute and the undead won’t want to miss this.   And if you can’t make it to San Diego you can visit them online at:  Lunasea-Studios.com

From The Drawing Board: Twitter Zombies?

Okay we’re trying something new.

We’ve got an idea for a new Zombie Shirt and we’re going to preview it here in development. This is the color test for the art of our new Twitter Zombie shirt…

SO?  What do you think? Would you buy/wear it? What color shirt would you prefer to see it on? (doesn’t have to be white – but were thinking a lighter color would be best).

We’re curious to get your feedback.  If this shirt gets the go signal you could see it debut at San Diego Comic-Con International in a few weeks.

(sorry about the watermarks – lawyers insist we protect our concepts)

And the X-Ray has it!

Yesterday we had another Comic-Con prep meeting and things are rockin! New product designs were gone over – some are done and ready to print, some still in development… racing to the July 22rd deadline. Did I say July 22? YIKES!

The big reveal was the new Humerus sign! Our logo has always been a parody of an X-Ray, and recently got cleaned up and updated (not even fixed on our site yet) – so when we wanted to upgrade from the foamcore sign we’ve used up until now an Xray seemed the natural way to go. Check it out:

I took the pic with my cel phone so it could be better.  You’ll just have to come by our booth to experience it’s awesomeness in person!

We’ll post more about our Comic-Con preparations as the big event approaches… in just (gulp)… 28 days!

Our Comic-Con History

In the midst of  all our preparations for San Diego Comic-Con International I’m flashing back (oh so far back) to 2006 – our f irst Comic-Con.

If you’ve ever been to San Diego for the premier pop culture event of the year you know how huge and overwhelming the massive  show can be.  In the summer of 2006 we were just starting to become Humerus and had only 1 shirt designed.  We went to Comic-con to road test our idea.

Our First Humerus Design

Our First Humerus Design

There was no time to make an official appearance , but we did get shirts printed and walked around the floor with the only 4  Zombie Nixon for President shirts we had.

That was our learning year.   In 2007 we had more designs, had some smaller shows under our belt, but couldn’t get a booth at the incredibly popular Comic-Con.    Again we walked the floor in our shirts – talking them up to people, handed out flyers.

The Godfather of all Zombies says "These are Fantastic!"

The Godfather of all Zombies says "These are Fantastic!"

We caught the attention of George Romero who paid us a great compliment - He reviewed our product sheet and said “These are Fantastic!”  I’m still proud of that undocumented quote.

Our first Comic-Con booth was rockin!

Our first Comic-Con booth was rockin!

They said it couldn’t be done, but last year,  thanks to a last minute  opportunity we got in!   We expanded our line even more – and the crowd responded!  We were the Zombie booth – with the big hit t shirt of the show - our Caution Zombie Crossing t shirt.  Four rockin’ days of hanging out on the floor talking Zombie Humor with Zombie fanatics from all walks of life!  We had a great time and were thrilled with the reaction to our stuff!

Now 2009 Comic-Con is almost here… (gulp) we’ve got a booth and we’ve got a lot to do…   new stuff coming soon!  I’ll keep blogging updates as the date approaches!

The iBama Era

It’s been said many times, many ways… Change is a comin to these here United States…   We’ve elected Barack Obama – the first computer literate president!   This could be a new kind of President, President 2.0 or the iBama if you will.

Obamamac

He campaigned on Facebook, Twitter and MySpace, he’s addicted to his Blackberry, and not only has an iPod, but uses it!

In a Rolling Stone interview this summer Obama revealed what is on his ipod… Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, Rolling Stones, Elton John, Earth Wind And Fire, Coltrane, Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, Howlin’ Wolf, Yo-Yo Ma, Sheryl Crow, Jay-Z

It’s kind of exciting to have a President that is connected to the people…  President Elect Obama has already started his weekly radio address… only he’d doing it on video on YouTube.com

We here at Humerus we were  trying to get Zombie JFK or Zombie Reagan in the Oval office, but this is good too.   We’re retiring those old Zombie President designs in favor of this new change… we welcome The Era of iBama.
